ReplyDeleteIt is curious to see GW putting their faith into the big kits as of late, yet 6th ed rumors threatening the viablity of vehicles. I am missing a crucial detail here, otherwise this just does not gel.
...though I must admit, I am kind of hyped for the stormtalon. My stormeagle could use some wingmen.
Yeah, let's release lots of expensive flyers, so people buy lots of them, then nerf vehicles afterwards, so people go out and buy more infantry. I really hope I've got this wrong, because that just seems too cynical even to me. On the other hand, maybe flyers will be the only awesome type of vehicle in 6th edition.

I suspected pretty much the same thing you did, but the window of opportunity is too small to gain any economical advantage out of it, considering this release and 6th ed. are, at most, two months apart.

Ohh, but instead of a dreadclaw or a helltalon Chaos will get a mechanical DRAGON! Isn't that AMAZING? A DRAGON! Can you tell how EXCITED I am from all the CAPS?! A DRAGON! The EPITOME of CHAOS!
In all seriousness though, a plastic dreadclaw (that doesn't require you to sell a kidney to afford) would be quite welcome.
Why just two WFB releases? :/ if anything, WFB orc players need that plastic multi-part kit for a wyvern.

DeleteRight, now I'm calm I'll point out that Fantasy has had two army book releases this year, and a few random models. 40k has had the necron second wave, and a nids and space wolves release so far. I think it is a little unjustified to complain about fantasy not getting anything else when you consider that this is 40k's 25th anniversary, and all we got was a limited edition model.
When you consider that WFB has had two army books already, compared to 40k's zero codices, you might understand why I can get a little annoyed about this sort of thing. Just my view on the matter.
Anyway, on a slightly different note, greater demons need an update more than the wyvern.

DeleteIt does look quite OTT, I'll admit. Annoyingly, I get the feeling it'll only be for loyalists, so we'll have to wait for our codex and the mechanical dragon to get a plastic flyer. Meh. I just hope flyers don't end up game-breaking.
